Couponboa: What is your name?

My name is Jane Gray. My shop name is Mammajane. A child called me mom Jane on day years ago and it stuck. I named my childrens clothing label kepsup, my daughter couldn't say ketchup and her pronunciation was so clever it just had to be used, plus the picture on the label is a tomato with a pacifier.

CB: Where are your from?

JG: I am originally from a suburb of Chicago but my family has made Chesterfield Missouri our home.

CB: Tell us something about your business, your goals and key achievements.

JG: I decided to have a variety of different types of items. I have sterling jewelry, baby items and vintage items so that I entice customers from several different areas on Etsy. My goals are to make people happy with their purchases and feel that their money was well spent. My key achievements are that I make a great quality product, I did a spot on KMOV St. Louis to promote my children clothing line and I have repeated and loyal customers.

CB: How did the idea for this business come about?

JG: The idea came from friends and family telling me I should sell my creations.

CB: What is the startup story behind your business? When did it start?

JG: I started my business when my family needed extra money. My children are now teenagers and continue to get more expensive by the minute. It was important for me to have flexibility because my son is Autistic and I have to be able to drop what I'm doing if he needs me. My goals in business is to be able to pay for car insurance, lunch money, school incidentals and be able to save a little for College (not achieved yet).

CB: How many hours do you work a day on average?

JG: Depending on what orders I have and if I need to replenish my inventory, I spend 4 to 5 hours every other day in my work room. If I have orders I spend the day in the workroom until I have finished each order at hand. I don't feel that making a customer wait any longer than they have to, to get what they had paid good money for. I spend about 4 hours 2 in the morning and 2 at night to work on computer needs pretty much everyday. My business is an online business only at this time.

CB: What's your definition of success, and do you believe you've achieved it yet?

JG: Continued orders, repeat customers, custom orders are the definition of success. I believe that I still have yet to achieve my goals and success because I continue to expect more of myself everytime I meet a personal goal. If you don't continue to set goals then I believe your settling.

CB: What motivates you?

JG: My children are amazing motivators, plus failing and giving up is not an option (what kind of message would I be sending my kids if I gave up). My husband, girlfriends, parents and the feedback I receive from customers - keeps me going. I also LOVE what I do. (SMILED)

CB: What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

JG: My greatest fear would for my Arthritis and Sciatica to prevent me from doing what I love. I manage this fear by taking care of myself and making sure I don't over do it.

CB: If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

JG: I would have started my online business years earlier if I had not been so afraid of the computer and the Internet.

The day started in a bad shape... when the car refused to TALK... something went wrong.

Just recalled an event years ago, we were on an inspection and it was late in the afternoon. Dark outside and we were stranded amidst highways. Scary situation.

Searching for a digital camera for the teenagers

Well a digital camera for the teenagers must be easy to use. If it is the first ever purchase, consider a model with few presets, adequate memory, and, should have flexibility to adjust settings manually a little bit.

Important features to look for:

LCD Screen: The size is not a big factor, even a 2.5" LCD display can produce great view of the captured photos.

MegaPixel: Basically this determines the print size of the photos you will capture. A camera with 10+ MP resolution can print 25x40 in photo (Average quality). Even a cheap camera model nowadays comes up with 10+ MP (MegaPixel) camera, which is good for all practical purposes. 

IS: (Image Stabilization) This feature gives protection against camera shakes (think of unsteady hands of the newbies), a problem which produces blurred images particularly for slow shutter speed and long focal length settings. And this is also a pre-built feature with most digital camera models.

Auto focus & face detection: These two features of modern digital camera have really made photography a charm. Let the device decide what to focus at and it also produces a rectangular frame around the human face, whenever it can detect any. A teenager's camera must have these two features.

Zoom: Let the teenager be creative - sometimes focusing at the nearest point or sometime at the farthest hill top. All cameras come up with zoom. There are two types of zoom effect -

1) Optical Zoom and 2) Digital Zoom.

In optical zoom, the camera lens is used to bring the object closer. Optical zoom is limited by the maximum focal length the camera lens can support.

And digital zoom enlarges a portion of the image.  Digital zoom is accomplished electronically without using camera lens technology. It starts functioning automatically once the range for optical zoom is crossed.

The total zoom effect you can achieve is a combination of both these two effects. A typical Canon Powershot SD780 model can feature 12x Combined Zoom (3x Optical x 4x Digital). A digital camera should have great zooming ability to capture long distance photos beautifully. Consider to buy a camera model with higher zoom effect within your budget.

Auto flash: Let the teenager not bothered with the illumination. Let him capture great campfire images with auto-flash feature. It should be there in their preferred model.

Battery: Check for the battery life, model, and availability.

Other things you should consider include USB Interface Cable (for connecting to computer for transferring image files), Wrist Wrap (very important to prevent the set from being dropped down inadvertently), Memory Support (2Gb + is good) and their must be support for memory slot so that you can install more memories later.
